I agree to your theory. When I got mine two years ago it has only been driven downtown, short
distances and that for about three years. It backfired a lot and farted when shut off.
I've driven it a lot in these two years, inclusive long distance turns and highway driving.
The backfiring is almost gone completely, unfortunately, I must say but the bike still farts sometimes
when I shut it off.
So I guess you're right, it must have something to do with residues left in the cylinder head due to
short distance driving. Obviously these are burned away when you strain the bike a bit more.
